Frequently Asked Questions – International Groups

Here you will find answers to the most common questions asked by international groups. You can find information about other aspects of WSIJ by visiting our general FAQ page.

We would prefer all payments by BACS, where possible. The WSIJ account information can be found either on your booking confirmation email or by logging in to the WSIJ booking system.

When making a payment please use WSIJ2022 followed by your booking reference number as the payment reference. If you are unable to pay by BACS, please email [email protected]

Please note: We cannot accept cheques originating from outside of the UK. You can view your payments using the Payments and Balance page on the online booking system.

Yes! However, we do not yet know what rules and restrictions will be in place around travel to and from the UK at the time of the camp, so please keep an eye on your own country's travel advice and the Entering the UK pages of the UK Government website.

The payment schedule for international groups is different to that of UK groups, in recognition of the challenges that international travel brings during the pandemic.

For all international visitors (adults and participants) there is no need to pay a deposit to secure your place. The two required payments are:

First payment - due no later than 12th February 2022:

Participants - GBP £140.00

Adults - GBP £40.00

Non-participant child - GBP £10.00


The second and final payment is due no later than 31st May 2022:

Participants - GBP £50.00

Adults - GBP £20.00

Non-participant child - GBP - £0.00

Yes. All volunteer staff must pay an amount (to be confirmed) that covers the cost of meals. These will be provided centrally during the event with the fee being payable in advance.

Yes, all participants, adults, and volunteer staff must be registered as members (or affiliates) of a recognised WAGGGS Member Organisation or WOSM National Scout Organisation.

Yes. Once you are registered, the WSIJ international co-ordinator will work to link you to a suitable UK group. Please be aware that large groups may be asked to split and link to several smaller UK groups. On occasion, mixed groups may be requested to separate boys and girls to suit the sleeping arrangements available.

It is the responsibility of every international group to check if they need a visa to enter the UK before registering for WSIJ 2022. Visa requirements vary and groups are advised to check the Entering the UK pages of the UK Government website for further information.

Letters to support visa applications can be requested from the WSIJ international co-ordinator once groups have completed their registration, paid their deposits, and provided names of those travelling as part of their group.

Yes, groups and camp staff are responsible for arranging their own transport between their arrival point in the UK and the WSIJ site, unless other arrangements are specifically and directly agreed with your UK link group, if you have one.

We do not yet know what rules and restrictions will be in place around travel to and from the UK at the time of the camp, so please keep an eye on your own country's travel advice and the Entering the UK pages of the UK Government website.

Please note: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland can have different rules regarding travel. If your group is planning to arrive in, or leave from, an airport in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, please ensure you double check their arrival/departure regulations for travel into and out of England.

We also do not yet know whether there will be a need for international visitors to show proof of COVID vaccination to enter the UK.

There is no equipment that can be hired directly from WSIJ. Some UK groups may be able to provide support, especially in relation to providing tents, but this cannot be guaranteed. Contact your UK link group or get in touch with the WSIJ international team ([email protected]) for more information.

There are no tours available through the WSIJ team but international groups are welcome to research and make their own arrangements.

Whilst some UK groups may be able to offer home hospitality this cannot be guaranteed, particularly as we do not know what COVID restrictions may still be in place at the time of the Jamboree.

If you wish to explore home hospitality as part of your visit, please contact the group you are linked with in the UK as arranging this is not included in the role of the WSIJ international team.
